Rich Wilmot joined Gilde in 2023 as a Partner in the Boston office. Prior to joining, Rich was the Global Head of Ventures at Philips, where he was responsible for creating, launching and running the venture program from 2016 through 2023.  During his time at Philips, Rich oversaw both a fund-to-fund strategy as well as a direct investment portfolio consisting of early to growth stage startups across the medtech and digital health spaces globally.  Rich served on the board of many of the companies across the Philips European and North American concentrated portfolio, spanning digital health, medical device, and services based businesses.

Prior to Philips, Rich was a member of the Partners Innovation Fund, an early stage health system venture fund within Mass General Brigham (MGB) focused on new company formation opportunities emerging from the Harvard / MGB research platform.  He was responsible for building and overseeing the digital and medical device pipeline and portfolio for the fund and also served as a member of the corporate strategy and business development team.

Rich’s early career included investment banking as a member of the healthcare teams at both Alex. Brown and Bank of America. He was previously an alumni advisor at Harvard University and served as an adjunct professor at Tufts University teaching entrepreneurial finance.

Rich is a graduate of Harvard University, where he studied engineering sciences.
