Hermann Medizintechnik (“Hermann”) has officially joined Gilde Healthcare’s group of contract manufacturers for complex surgical instruments and implants (“SPI”), marking another significant milestone for SPI. With Hermann, SPI grows to more than 500 highly skilled employees across seven sites in the DACH region, with the group approaching EUR 100 million in sales. Hermann is the third company to join SPI this year, further expanding the group’s position as a leading supplier of instruments and implants for neurosurgery, minimally invasive surgery, robotics, and orthopedics. Gilde Healthcare intends to continue expanding the Group through both strategic acquisitions and organic growth as consolidation in the surgical instrument manufacturing sector accelerates.
Headquartered in Fridingen an der Donau, Germany, Hermann develops and manufactures complex surgical instruments and implants. Its portfolio ranges from a broad range of implant systems through to customized special instruments for a wide variety of surgical disciplines. Founded in 1961, the company has built an excellent reputation for quality, innovation and reliability.
Florian Hermann, Managing Director of Hermann, said: “Joining SPI opens an exciting new chapter for Hermann. After more than sixty years as a family business, we are becoming part of a group that shares our understanding of precision manufacturing – with the scale and resources to support our next phase of growth. I look forward to leading Hermann as part of SPI and continuing to deliver the highest quality to our customers.”
Dr. Christian Stark, CEO of SPI, commented: “Hermann Medizintechnik marks the beginning of a new chapter for us. It reinforces our position as a comprehensive partner to our customers and extends our portfolio across an even broader set of surgical specialties and therapeutic areas. We intend to continue on this path and remain actively open to further specialized medical technology manufacturers looking to strengthen their competitive position in the global medtech market.”
Rafael Natanek, General Partner at Gilde Healthcare Private Equity, added: “Hermann joining SPI is an important milestone for the group and reinforces our ambition to continue to build the leading platform in the contract manufacturing of surgical instruments and implants.
