Volta Medical is a French healthtech company developing AI software solutions to assist cardiac electrophysiologists in the operating room. These solutions enable improved cardiac arrythmia management by developing state-of-the-art, data-driven medical devices trained on large databases of procedural data with the highest standards of data protection.

Its first product, VX1, assists cardiologists with real-time identification of specific abnormal dispersed electrograms. The company’s innovative approach has the potential to significantly improve the treatment outcomes for the 9.6 million patients affected by Persistent Atrial Fibrillation. It reduces adverse events and could potentially eliminate the need for repeat treatments in over 2.4 million patients. Volta gained FDA approval for its VX1 system in September 2020, a first for an AI-based software in interventional electrophysiology.

Gilde Healthcare invested in Volta in 2020 to enable the company to establish its revolutionary FDA-cleared and CE marked VX1 AI software solution as a new standard of care, to pursue further R&D activities and roll out commercial activities across the US and Europe.
